A baker brought over his original recipes from Belgium and opened our bakery in 1993, initially naming it Chocolate Mousse.  The Belgian baker was famous for his outstanding croissants and European-style cakes.  The business grew to become one of the San Francisco Bay Areas most respected retail and wholesale bakeries.  He sold the business in 1999 to a professional American baker who added pies, tarts, and savories to the menu selection.  She renamed the bakery to Vivaldi’s to give it a broader association with European style baking across more European countries and menu selections.  In 2002 a new owner took over and added "Bakery and Café" to the name to give the business an exclusive focus on patisserie baked goods.

  Now we are excited to announce that Vivaldi's is under new ownership! The beginning  of 2005 brings new owners Dana and Joe Kern to the Laurel Street community.  And we are bringing the bakery back to its roots.  We are going back to the original name Chocolate Mousse!  We are excited about this opportunity to provide the finest baked goods to our community.  While we've added a unique New York style deli and are boiling authentic New York Bagels, Chocolate Mousse plans to remain faithful to the Belgian baker’s original recipes, while continually adding new items and services for the pleasure of San Francisco Bay Area patrons.
